This unique brooch has been created from cobblestones that once lined Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, I designed it as a brooch but have added a silver hoop for a chain to pass through so that it could also be worn as a necklace. It’s a unique gift for anyone who loves Edinburgh or history or wearing jewellery with a story.
Edinburgh's world famous Royal Mile runs from Edinburgh Castle down to Holyrood Palace and recently the pavements have been widened and the cobblestone lifted and relaid. The extra cobblestone were saved and cut and polished to create cabochons which I have then used in a limited jewellery collection.
The cobblestone has been set in recycled sterling silver with a decorative edge which I have darkened with a patina. The cobblestone is made from granite and basalt and has a lovely grey speckle with a touch of pink. If you would like to add a chain to this brooch to allow it to be worn as a necklace please add one on through the menu. The chain will fasten with a toggle clasp shaped to resemble a cobble stone, please let me know if you would prefer a standard lobster clasp instead. The back of the brooch has been given a matt finish.
The dimensions of the pendant brooch are 30 x 19 mm and it has been hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office.
This beautiful piece of jewellery will be delivered gift wrapped and I'm happy to include a gift note with your message.
Other pieces of cobblestone jewellery are also available, each one carrying with it a unique piece of history.
