This beautiful necklace has been handmade from a piece of cobblestone that once lined Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. It is set in recycled sterling silver with a silver thistle on the back. It’s a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves history and unique jewellery.
Edinburgh's world famous Royal Mile runs from Edinburgh Castle down to Holyrood Palace and recently the pavements have been widened and the cobblestone lifted and relaid. The extra cobblestone were saved and cut and polished to create cabochons which I have then used in a limited jewellery collection.
This unique necklace features a pink and grey speckled cobblestone set in recycled sterling silver and I have held it in place using little silver 'cobblestone' tabs. On the reverse of the necklace is a silver thistle which I have slightly darkened to enhance the flower and I have given the silver a matt finish. The pendant hangs from an 18-inch chain, finished with a handmade sterling silver toggle clasp shaped like a tiny cobblestone.
The cobblestones on the Royal Mile are made from granite and basalt and this granite one has beautiful pink and grey speckles through the stone.
The dimensions of the necklace are 32 x 20 mm and this necklace has been hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office.
This unique necklace with an amazing history will be delivered gift wrapped and I'm happy to include a gift note with your message.
Other pieces of cobblestone jewellery are also available.
