This is a dainty sterling silver brooch which was inspired by lichen.  It's handmade using traditional techniques and recycled sterling silver, 24 ct gold foil and a moonstone gemstone.  It would make a wonderful gift for someone that likes botanical jewellery or woodland-inspired design.
 
When walking through the Scottish woodlands I'm often inspired by the way in which lichen feels like a miniature world full of detail once you stop and pay attention to it.  I wanted to reflect this in a brooch and so the finer details of the design are obvious when you stop to look at the brooch rather than being a bold design that is visible to anyone glancing at it.
 
The design features a textured lichen shape with various smaller lichen nestled within it.  Some of the lichen shapes have 24 ct gold foil applied to the surface and there is also a 4 mm moonstone.  The main lichen shape has been slightly darkened with a patina.
 
The total length of the brooch is ******** mm and the small round moonstone has a 4 mm diameter.
