These unique lichen inspired earrings have been hand fabricated from recycled sterling silver and smoky quartz gemstone.   They would make such a beautiful gift for a special occasion, especially for a nature lover.   Their design was inspired by lichen growing in the Scottish woodlands, it looks like a little miniature world full of interest.
 
Each pair of earrings starts starts life as a sheet of silver and is hand fabricated, not cast.  This traditional way of creating jewellery means that no two pieces are the same, this is one of the things that I love about artisan handmade jewellery. 
 
The main shape of the earrings is that of a piece of lichen with two little lichen cups filled with 24 kt gold foil (using the ancient Korean keum boo technique) and a smoky quartz stone held in little claws.  The silver has been gently hammered to create a more nature inspired look and the earrings have a sterling silver ear post and butterfly pushback.  
 
They are a unique pair of earrings, sure to be noticed and great for starting a conversation.  
 
The approximate width of the earrings is 20 mm, length 20 mm and the smoky quartz gemstone has a diameter of 5 mm.
